WHY CHOOSE A STOVE?

Stoves offer that comforting warm glow we all love from an open fire but are more efficient, safer to use and easier to maintain. Stoves can be set into an existing fireplace or be freestanding, so you can consider a stove even if you do not have a chimney in your home. Available in many different sizes, stoves are very versatile and can burn a variety of different fuels or even be connected to a gas supply. Country Fires can also install a rigid flue system which is used when your home does not have a chimney. If a flue installation is not possible, but your home has gas, there are also flue-less options that are 100% efficient too.

CHIMNEYS AND FLUES

DO I NEED A FLUE LINER?
Most houses built before 1966 do not have a liner in their chimney. Bare bricks are more suited to open coal fires, which were common when the houses were built. Depending on the condition of the chimney you may require a flue liner.

The efficiency of a stove relies on maintaining an even flue temperature to give a consistent draw (draught) to keep it burning. The draw also prevents condensation and the build up of tar deposits on exposed flue bricks, particularly from wood burning which is sometimes seen as stains on the chimney breast.
