Suppliers and installers of wood stoves in Kent
Wood stoves can burn only wood or other wood-based products, such as compressed sawdust briquettes and similar products. They can not be used to burn coal-based fuel (see multi fuel stoves).
DOES A WOOD STOVE REQUIRE A CHIMNEY AND A FLUE?
A wood stove requires a class 1 chimney* that needs to be installed in either an existing flue or using a new twin wall insulated rigid flue system. This would have to conform to current building practices regarding termination height and distance to combustibles. As HETAS registered installers we can advise on the appropriate solution to individual situations. Please call us to discuss your needs or book an appointment for us to visit you. We are based in Peckham Bush in East Peckham close to Tonbridge, Paddock Wood and Maidstone in Kent. We have a shop and showroom where you can see installations of a range of contemporary and traditional style wood burning stoves.
* A Class 1 chimney conforms to certain diameters and a chimney that is structurally sound. Class 1 chimneys are suitable for all fireplace types, as long as they are fault free.
CLEAN BURN TECHNOLOGY
Most new stoves today utilise Air Wash and Clean Burn technology. It is a technology that makes the stoves run at optimum efficiency. Most towns and cities are classed as Smoke Control Areas and any stove installation requires an exemption by DEFRA to burn wood or coal based fuels. Please pop into our shop in East Peckham, Kent or call us to talk about clean burn technology and the stoves we can supply for houses in towns and cities.
CAN A WOOD STOVE HEAT MY ENTIRE HOUSE?
Wood stoves can be used to heat a single room or heat a whole house. This can be achieved by just the heat given off by the wood stove itself or by installing a boiler stove. A boiler stove can run a full wet central heating system or be hooked up to an existing system to run in tandem to provide the sole heating of your home or as backup to the main system.
WOOD STOVE INSTALLATION
Country Fires are part of the HETAS Accredited Retailer Network. We can work out the size of stove you require and recommend stoves with the right output to suit your room. We are qualified to carry out the installation including the fitting of flues either inside an existing chimney or as a rigid system as described above.
In all cases, you should have your chimney swept before any stove installation, this applies to wood, gas, or solid fuel stoves. We can give you numbers for chimney sweeps in Kent should you require them.
After each installation, we light the stove and test the system. We will also show you how to operate and maintain your new wood stove, keeping it running and looking as good as the day you bought it.
